I never knew how prolific i was during childhood when all i could do with a mirror is start enacting scenes from various bollywood movies that i used to watch with my friends and family back home in the UK....I would be so fascinated by these Indian actresses who would be able to enact rigorous roles with perfection even in the heaviest of outfits and make-up! Sub-conciously i wanted to do the same and growing up i managed to press the thought somewhere into my nerves which were probably situated at the extreme end of my brain.
Moving over to college i realised my dream again and when i started participating in various college plays and i always ended up playing the most dramatic of the roles (i probably still had the Indian-ness within me of being a melodramatic woman!) and i finally did realise i wanted to study acting and place myself among the league of actresses that have ruled my childhood days so hence started the crucial part of decieding which school i wanted to study in..... NYFA / Lee strasberg /Whistling Woods etc....the most feasible option for me was a school that would help me retain the culture within me with which i grew up and so i decided to back track and come to India (My mum was the happiest!!!) and enroll myself into Whistling Woods International whose founder was none other than Subhash Ghai!!! who made movies like Pardes , Hero , Yaadein etc. all from my favourite collection of movies....
My days started off great with lectures from people who were from the industry itself and to top it all i had a faculty who was the life-time member of the U S based The Actors Studio and of the Screen Actors Guild- Rob Reece!!! he has been such an inspiration....he used to give us situations to enact and that got me so much in touch with my inner self that i practically self-discovered myself....
All my favourite actors and directors were a part of the guest interactions and i had a ball of a time....i just didnt realise when 2 years were over...
As i emotionally bid goodbye to the best 2 years of my life i also open doors to a plethora of opportunities waiting in front of me with regards to acting and i am going to take every opportunity to prove to the world that yes! I am a Whistling Woods Alumni! and I am proud of it....
Thank you all for the immense support and guidance....
will be back for more...
